Global Refugee Sponsorship Initiative (GRSI) World Conference
The Global Refugee Sponsorship Initiative (GRSI) works within a growing ecosystem of organisations and individuals supporting the growth of community sponsorship programs around the world. These organisations include universities, businesses, advocacy groups, settlement agencies, foundations, national governments, local authorities, and many other entities.
Waltham Forest Community Sponsor Partnerships (WFCSP) were invited to a world conference in Madrid and presented the efforts and achievements of St Saviour’s to community sponsorship partners and colleagues from across the world. A group of children created a short film to be shared at the conference to summarise their actions and drive. The response was overwhelmingly positive with many attendees amazed at the actions of primary children. Global Refugee Settlement Initiative (GRSI) have said they want to launch the schools’ education programme at a future event following interest from different countries.
“The global interest in the work that these children in Waltham Forest have started is incredible. Not only are the children becoming more aware of world issues, they are actively becoming engaged to make a real change to real people’s lives.” Iftakhar Latif (WFCSP)
